Can anyone help me with proscan? I just cant seem to get it working. If I go into mass storage mode my computer it notices the device and can read it. In proscan if I hit send msm command to scanner it says "scanner must be communicating". My scanner obviously isnt communicating with proscan because it doesnt show anything on the display. Ive got an audio cable from the scanner to my computer and I can hear the audio fine just through my bluetooth headphones using my computer. I use a usb to go into mass storage mode using sentinnel however if I dont go into msm it the device dissapears. Do I need something else? Am I doing something wrong? Very confused.

The scanner has two modes. Mass Storage mode and Serial Port mode. When the scanner is not in Mass Storage mode then it's in Serial Port mode. The Mass Storage mode is for reading and writing the favorites Lists. It sounds like you did that. The MSM command works when the scanner is in Serial Port mode. If you want the virtual display to show the scanner then take it out of Mass Storage mode then go to the Comm Port menu then click on Auto Detect. If you don't see the scanner show up in the list then you may need to install the serial port driver. Here's the link. See the Windows Serial Drivers section.

Hey I have another question. With the 436 and proscan would I be able to record a specific talkgroup (I think thats the right word) or do I have to record everything I am monitoring?

Two ways to do that , that I know of. 1st is to hold on that tg and let it sit. The other way is to set record flags to trigger recording instead of using vox or activity.
