ok, I couldn't pass up the rs sale of the pro97 for $150 ... so far I love the thing! I still like my BCT15 better, but for $150 I just had to get me a pro97 .... here is my problem, I am finding some mixed statements concerning the correct data cable. I def do not want to drop another $30 at the shack on the usb, so i figured i would try my 20-289 (black) serial cable ...... but I have yet to get it to work. should I just give up or just keep trying diff computers lol, ive tried two laptops and one desktop so far ....... any suggestions? thanks!

You need the gray one, which is a mono cable (1 black ring).
The black one is stero (2 black rings).
I'm not sure if you can buy an adapter to make it work or not. I belive the gray cable is only $1.97 if I remember correctly.

well i'll be ... the grey cable comes thru for me once again ... so now that i can read and write to the scanner, can someone tell me why even though i have bank 4 set to MOT that it is just stopping on a control channel and not acting like its trunking .... ha

ok i spoke too soon ... the EDACS system I want to program is the Central Planning District TRS in Lynchburg, VA and Bedford, VA ... it is a multi site system, so am i screwed or do the different sites need to be in different banks bc of the LCN's?
