psr 500 # of channels

hello, the pro 96 can hold 5500 channels, the bcd396t can hold about 6000 channels, i was wondering approximately how many channels just one of the psr500's v scanners will hold?

About 36,000 (that is thirty six thousand!).

21 V Folders with 1800 channels per V Folder I think. Of course the memory isn't exact, but it is close. The math comes out to 37,800 so it is closer to 38,000 channels but I think system settings, etc. take up some of the memory space.

But you can only scan 1 V-Folder at a time so actually you can only scan 1800(thereabouts..the working memory) at one time.

That's correct. The 22x1852 formula is total capacity, not working memory.

And the fact that that memory is loaded into 21 different v-files mean that some of those objects are going to overlap. But overall, you can travel a long way with all those v-folders!

And same on the PRO-96. Your capacity is 500 frequencies and 1500 TG ID's in one full programming. Technically, more 'objects' available to main memory than the PSR500, but the 500's flexibility gives it much greater capacity in practice. (less prone to wasted space)

Can't speak much to the 396 because I don't own onel.

Yeah but you can put any amount of talkgroups in any one scanlist or system which all the other scanners before were limited to anywhere between 150 to 250 TGs only.

And that's a bigger advantage than having even 10,000 channels at once if you can only put no more than 200 per system like all the scanners before.
