Has anyone in Ontario purchased the PSR 500 yet? If so does it work/decode properly the fleetnet system?

I find it easier to program. Digital reception is very clear compared to the other two scanners. I live in a fourteenth floor condo, to receive Fleetnet on the Pro96 or the 396T I have to use a discone antenna located on the outdoor balcony. With the Psr 500 I get excellent OPP reception using the included rubber antenna anywhere inside the condo.

here are some of the Fleetnet talkgroups I am receiving tonite

I would guess that you are in the K/W or Guelph area, at least west of Toronto to hit what i am guessing are the Primrose, 2 Guelph, Cedarwoods and Listowel towers. Ballinfad also i guess.

I purchased mine from Grove Enterprises .... www.grove-ent.com

The price was $US 499.95, shipping and handling $US 34.00. For a total of $US 533.95.

It was shipped by the United States Postal Service and identified as " Amateur Radio Equipment " (no duty)

Ship date was Friday, Oct 19, I received it on Wednesday, Oct 24.

Canada Customs valued it at $Cdn 483.65.
I paid 29.02 GST and 38.69 PST plus a handling fee of $5.00

Grove Enterprises is a very reputable dealer.

I've dealt with them many times and found the service to be excellent.

I've even spoke with Bob Grove a few times. Very friendly and always willing to assist with any questions.

Looks like Radioworld has dropped it's prices.

The BC996T is now $649+tax.

When you work out what wrex paid (assuming the dollar was on par), you would save $132 ordering from the US.

Those $72.71 charges in tax are kind of a bummer.
What method of USPS shipping did Grove use, Wrex?

Yeah I know, that's the price you pay for cross border shipping sometimes. I wish it were cheaper :p That 5 dollar handling fee which Canada Post charges is lame too.

Most of that 72 xtra is taxes, that you would have to pay anyway in Canada. 650 sounds like a good price for a 996 but you add 90 dollars tax right away if bought in Ontario. Buying in the USA is the way to go right now. By the time it gets here it is going to be cheaper than whats its offered for here so you are saving the tax and more usually.

Weird, but I would simply copy the card and white-out the numbers (then re-copy it)

Done!

I am really thinking of getting one of these in place of my 396. Butel is coming out with software for it as well!

trying to pgrm new PSR500 for fleetnet and GO P25 systems... help!

I am trying to program my PSR500 that came in last night
This thing is awesome, and the reception on Toronto Public Safety Trunk and
the York trunk are something to behold in that my unidens were extremely choppy at the best of times monitoring 800Mhz (possible iDEN site interference??)

But there is a minor problem

I need assistance in programming Fleetnet sites, as I input the base, spacing , and offset numbers into the custom frequency table, from the RR database, but I am still needing the HI and LO frequencies.
Anyone out there can advise?

Also Go transit P25 system. Anyone have the necessary HI/ LO frequencies as well as the , spacing and offset #s for that system.

Thanks
Glen
