My PSR is up right now. I "put it online" using Microsoft's Windows Media Encoder. WME is grabbing the audio from the microphone input, and video from a 320x240 capture of Win500's "separate LCD window".

That's what the scanner's "Alert LED" is doing. It's the background of the window for two reasons. First, I wanted to be able to see it from across the room and on my cell phone. Second, I needed "filler" to make the window 320x240, so that certain media players are happy with it.

I think your stream rate or somethin is funky Don. The audio is getting all jumbled up but it sounds like it's receiving it clearly. Also is that Santa Clara, CA near SFO?

Programming my PSR 500 for the first time with software.

I wish to import some, but not all data from my Pro96 to my PSR 500. And all of my Pro97 data to the PSR 500. What exactly will this task involve?

I have a friend who's got a windows laptop. And she's not into scanning at all. I am leaning towards someone who's got a windows laptop and IS into scanning for help.

Can i copy some of the data from my Pro96 and all of the data from my Pro97?

I've tried programming by hand. There is just too much data to fool with trying again.

I would do the Win97 (p97) file first and click yes on each dialog for each bank. When complete select the Win96 (p96) file. As you import this file, change the import Scanlist for trunk systems to an unused list (click no on bank data you do not wish to import). Should you make An error in Scanlist selection, it can be easily corrected after import is complete.

Stavro,

I should have mentioned the above is when using Win500 software.

PSREdit will convert both Pro96 and Pro97 systems by importing directly from PC/IF port of selected scanner to the software. However, this will require two different files and copy/paste from one to the other.

ARC500 will not function with either scanners for importing data.

BTW, the question would be better suited in the software forum for the PSR500/600 scanner.

the feed is not working
It died overnight. WME didn't seem to be very happy with the PC doing a full backup of all the machines on the network. It kept claiming that it couldn't keep up with encoding (which is nonsense).

It looks like it's working now (2008-07-06 0913 PST). I'm listening to and watching it via Windows Media Player Mobile on my PPC-6700 (a WM5 cell phone).

PSR-600 Stream

FYI - I'm testing a stream right now using my PSR-600. I'm using the screen capture option in Windows Media Encoder and running it thru Streamwebtown.com What you will see is the LCD from PSREDit software. I'm using a USB Sound Blaster card for the sound.

The Streamwebtown servers tend to go down on a regular basis, but as of right now, the stream is up. You can access it by putting the following url in your Windows Media Player (file/open url)

http://streamwebtown.com/snhscanner3

At most, three. PSR-600 (the "feed", and the only one that's running all the time), PSR-500, and PRO-97. The 600 is connected to a Diamond D-130J, while the other two are using RS 800 MHz ducks.
and to see if his desk is just as much a mess as mine is
I guarantee I'll win that (if it can be called "winning").

Don,

Do you have that feed running from a seperate computer other than your day to day one? The reason why I ask is that I'm curious how the screen capture works with WME.

The feed is coming from my primary, day-to-day computer. WME is capturing a region of the screen (320x240 starting at 1600,0). Win500's "separate LCD window" is in that part of the screen, and is always on top of every other window. The main Win500 window is minimized.

WME is taking about 5% of the CPU time to encode the stream; Win500 is using less than 1% to capture from the radio, update the LCD window, and log to disk.

So, once you caputure the Win500 window, you can minimize it? You don't have to keep the window up for the screen capture at all times?
