What are your thoughts on this particular scanner? I'm trying to get into this hobby and having kind of a tough time understanding all the programming that goes into it. I have my pro-104 semi programed. I'm picking up the same stuff that's on the live feeds.

Anyway I was thinking of tryin to save up some money for a digital scanner thats pretty much pre-programed might be a little less frustrating for me. So anyone running this unit around Tulsa? Is it worth the price or is their something else I should be looking into. I also saw the uniden home patrol which looks tempting for my needs but doesn't look like theirs any room to grow with. I'm still reading up on both scanners.

Thanks again for your help.

No experience on either scanners, but I have seen a lot of updates for the Home Patrol unit where you have more control of it. I believe I saw a GPS update that allows the use of shapes rather than the overall circle of coverage a big plus as far as that goes....

Well, I can't comment on usage in Tulsa, but I can resoundingly recommend the PSR-800. I bought one two weeks ago and it has not left my side! Programming couldn't be easier, and the database is updated weekly, so you can capture any changes quickly! Initial set up isn't too difficult, and updating the library is as simple as taking out the Micro-SD card (would have preferred full size), plugging into your computer and downloading. It is easy to use when traveling since the entire US database is already on the card, just need to search through the library for the area/services you are interested in and then you load to active memory.
I have had scanners for 30 years, from the easiest crystal type to the complex digital scanners (like the Pro-106) - this is by far my favorite scanner due to ease of programming, sound, sensitivity, features such as customizable LED's and information display.

Good luck which ever way you go!

Thanks for the advice...

The HP initially caught my eye so I'll look into the updates and try to find some more reviews rather than just initial reviews when it was released. The PSR is definitely tempting because the entire database is on the card. And its compact size so I would be easy to travel with.

Thx for your help..
By the time I get ready to bite the bullet their will probably be new technology.

Return of the HP-1

I was not impressed at all with the HP-1 in fact I returned it - not enough control - also the screen is pretty well stuck with the info on it. If it was me I would go the GRE PSR-800 it looks awesome. I just bought 2 new PSR-600's and I love them so far!!
