As a newcomer to the hobby; a few questions (again).
1. Does GRE notify users when new firmware updates are available?
2. Is it necessary to apply every update? If not, how often should I apply updates?

Hi and welcome to the forums Ghawkman56.
Gre does not personally notify you of updates but post updates to their site of upcoming releases and downloads for firmware updates.

No it is not always necessary to install every update unless it improves your listening or is an update to fix know issues with the radio. It is best to review the update and determine if the update is warrented in your case.

Also we have a sticky thread GRE Archived Stickies (Please Read these first) that list the updates and gives link to the discussion threads for each.

Thanks for the promot information! Given multiple years of software upgrades to PC's, I am always concerned about the "unknown" bugs when applying new software.

Some people just play the wait and see game when updates come out and there is always the old saying if it not broken leave it alone. Just read the updates and keep an eye on the update threads and you will get most of what you need for info. Good luck
