From the 1/3/07 Pueblo Chieftain. There is no timetable noted, other than a FCC mandated date to move to DTRS, which I'm not even sure is accurate. I also don't know how/if this impacts the city:
County OKs radio system contract
By MARGIE WOOD
THE PUEBLO CHIEFTAIN
Pueblo County commissioners on Tuesday approved a $3.1 million contract with Motorola Inc. to work on the county's 800-megahertz radio system. All the funding is through federal grants to the Department of Emergency Management.
DEM Director Steve Douglas said the current project will add one new radio tower site and add 800-megahertz capacity to four others in Pueblo and adjacent counties.
"This will help us move to the next level of interoperability" (basically, allowing all emergency service providers to communicate with one another by the same radio system) while maintaining communication on the existing systems, Douglas said. He noted that the grant was available only because Pueblo County had the good fortune or good planning to place the sheriff's communication center and the emergency operations center together back in 1990.
Eventually - probably sometime between 2010 and 2013 - all emergency services will be required by the federal government to have interoperable, 800-megahertz communication systems, he added.
