Question about control frequencies in DB

For Jersey City Police, there are 2 red control frequencies listed in the DB which I programmed. However, there are no blue alternates, yet, several more in black.

Do I program the rest of the black frequencies as control freq also? I noticed some of them are also used for conventional Hudson County EMS or Jersey City Fire.

Thanks for any help.

Depends if you have a "control channel only" setting on your scanner. If you do, turn it on for that system and only enter the control channels in the programming.

It appears it does.

There is no "control channel only" setting on the PSR-500 family (which includes the PRO-106). That family is always in such a mode.

For the O.P.: if you're only programming one site, or if the sum of all frequencies in all sites you're programming is <= 32, then there's no reason not to program all of the frequencies - including the "black ones". At worst, there might be a few tens of milliseconds delay if/when the scanner loses the current control channel and goes searching for a new one.

Just as a point of reference, isn't that true of all GRE built trunk tracking scanners?
