• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I'm setting up my scanner for the NY/NJ area and am wondering what NJ systems can be picked up from the Staten Island area. I was looking at the Hudson County System (Jersey City) and in particular, the system for Bayonne City.

The only one who can know for sure is you. There are multiple factors in determining what you can or can't hear from any given location.

Program in the stuff you're interested in listening to, then listen to find out if you can actually receive any of it from your location.

I Live just across the river from you in Linden,NJ so I'm very close. I get FDNY of course, but I also get all of Union county, which I am in. As well as Newark,NJ and Jersey City. So I would guess that you will get all of them and probably most of the counties or at least the east half of Union, Essex and Hudson counties.
