I'm trying to figure out how to add for example "ETS Security" from my old BC750D" to my new BCD436HP.

How to do I correlate the ID's from the old scanner to TGID's? as seems the Frequencies are in. just not the IDs

Create a new Department for the system using Sentinel, giving it the name you wish.

In the channels screen, (the right pane), click the green + symbol to add a new channel. With Sentinel still open, go to the other program, select the talkgroup data using standard mouse actions. Use the Copy function. Then go back to Sentinel and paste the copied items. While you may have added but one channel, when you paste additional channels are created for all you selected. You may have to do this column by column.

Then save the Favorites List and program to your scanner.

(It took me a few tries to do this at first.)

Thanks, still a bit confused. The frequency's are there. my problem is i dont under stand how to get the ID's matched over. for example:
"EPS North is ID 00548 under list no 2-6.

How does that translate to Sentinel? cause under that the same is listed "TGID" 04-44

How would i know what the ID# from the old bc250D translate to the newer one? if that make sense.

In a department for a trunked system, you enter the TGIDs you want to hear. You enter them using the same format as you did for the BC250D.

In fact, from the screen shot you posted, you have already done this. The xxx-xx are the TGIDs.

Maybe you've not created sites and put in the frequencies?

Well, in your first pictures, the one on the left had a bunch of TGIDs (channels). I didn't side-by-side compare.

I have never used a BC250D, so am not familiar with how it is programmed. The BCD436HP already has all the channels from RadioReference in it for that system. Are those undocumented channels you want to program?

Those "items" with numbers like 866.xxxx are frequencies. They should go in the Site section for the System in the Favorites List.

Those items with six digits 000255 and an alpha tage are talkgroup ID numbers. They will go inthe Department section for the System in the Favorites List. These things may be formatted differently if the type of trunked system is different (Motorola vs EDACS). For example XX-XXX.

You cannot mix different types of trunked systems (Motorola vs EDACS vs P25) in the the same System in the Favorites List. Each type of system will have to have be in its own System. (Yeah the word System is used twice, but in two slightly different contexts).

I suggest you look at the Full Database in Sentinel and see if the stuff you want is there. Then build your Favorites List off that. This would lessen the hassle of copying and pasting in the right places and otherwise reduce the potential for programming errors.

If you know of some additional unlisted talkgroups, once you have created the Favorites List from the full database, you can simply add those other talkgroups.

Try Sentinel it is already built out for you. Append to Favorite List and you'll be up and running in seconds. ID's and TGID's are the same thing.

You likely just need to enable the service tag for the transit channels to fix the nothing to scan issue.

Menu>Select Service Types>Transportation Enter. Confirm "On".

Probably should also use Sentinel to edit the applicable Profile so that the Transportation box is checked. Its under the Service Type tab of the Profile editor.

Got a ?. Which may be dumb but I am learning this Scanner BCD436HP and been getting frustrated all day. I can add the talk groups . I think I got it figured out on this By adding the state . If I add the group it adds many sites that I do not want to scan. So I deleted all of them , Dumb move, So then kept a few that was near. I figured out they have frequencies. I guess that site must be active for a talk group to be picked up. Am I correct ?? Just finding the right ones is a headache. Also can one be created and frequencies added in. Thanks , I'm learning.

Yes you are correct a Department has both a Site area (w Frequencies) and a Group area (w TGIDs). You can add Sites Manually by hand. Check out Post 12 for more info
