Hi Andrew,

I'm not in Schoharie but it looks like they use a simplex system. This means that the base and mobiles transmit on the same frequency. In your case (46.1800). It is no problem to hear the base because they usually transmit with a lot of power and usually have different antenna sites around the area that they can access either through microwave link or dedicated phone line of some other option. In order to hear the mobiles (which use considerably less power than the base stations) talk back to the base you would need to be fairly close the the unit that is transmitting. A big old antenna way up high would also increase your ability to hear them. The same probably holds true for the EMS frequency also.

Also check out www.nf2g.com there is some good Schoharie County info there including a frequency listed as "mobiles to dispatch" that you may want to try out.

Hope this helps,

Schoharie County Fire

Hello fellow scanner. I have 45.880 in my scanner for Montgomery County. You might want to put 45.880 into your scanner since I have heard activity on this frequency. It is listed as the inter-county mutual aid frequency under the New York database under common shared. I know that my post to you does not in any way answer your question that you posted but I wanted to pass this frequency along to you anyway just to help out.
