Questions from new user

I have a Radio Shack (don't know the model) 1,000 channel trunking scanner. I live in Roy, Utah weber county (84067). I'm looking to pick up police and fire frequencies. I know nothing about trunking so any help with frequencies and programming would be appreciated.

I hope that RadioShack scanner has the capability to be re-banded as the UCAN site has undergone that process.

Have a look at the link: Utah Communications Agency Network (UCAN) Trunking System, Various, Utah - Scanner Frequencies

Towards the botton are all the Weber County talkgroups that you would be interested in.

Select Control Channel Only for Motorola Type II and enter the red and blue freq's.

I'm looking to buy Radio Shacks Pro 197.
I'm kind of short of patience.
How easy (hard) will this scanner be for me to listen to greater Cincinnati's police and fire calls?
Will RS offer to program it for me??
