I have been dealing with R&L off and on for as long as I can remember. My first HT came from there (Ten-Tec 2591) so that should tell you something.

Never had a bit of trouble from them and often recommend them. Sorry you had a bad experience.

I think their is more to the story then you are posting. It is very unlikely they would refuse to do business with you over something like this. Seeing as how you are calling them "ediots" and $6.00/hour girls I can see why they are refusing to do business with you.

R&L has always treated me good. I have found their staff to be knowledgeable of their products and courteous. But I have never done business over the phone/internet. It's a 40 minute drive. Have been a customer for almost 20 years. Sorry you had a bad experience.

That's what i'm thinking, we don't know the details here.. I don't know if anyone over at R&L lurks on here but they should chime in if possible.

I tend to think that like any business, somedays are better than others. Every business has it's problems. I know people that will not buy a Ford because they had a problem with a vehicle made by them.

I could easily say I'll never buy a Yeasu radio again because I bought a FT-2800m that had a problem with a mic sticking. It was an easy fic, a peice of the board was chipped where the mic switch was attatched to the board. A simple fix, remove the screws, take a pair of tweezers and remove the chip and all was fine.

Has anyone else had major issues with R&L Electronics???

That company is about as worthless as they come.

I ordered a antenna 4 weeks ago. I was advised that the antenna was on back order via email.
I responded no problem no hurry. The guy was very nice and stated that he would notify me via email
when the antenna was back in stock.
Exactly one week later I received an email stating that the antenna was back in stock and was being shipped the next day. I responded via email and everything was good to go.
A week goes by and no antenna. I send an email requesting the tracking number, and I didn't get a response for 3 days. I call and the ediot on the phone states that the antenna wasn't in stock.
I told him that I received an email over a week ago stating that the antenna was in and it was shipping.
After being on hold for 15 min he came back on the line and asked me if I STILL WANTED THE ANTENNA.
I was so mad I couldn't see straight. I asked him why he was asking me if I still wanted the antenna.
He said WE ALWAYS PUT A HOLD ON BACKORDERED PRODUCTS.
I said if I didn't want to wait I would have cancelled the order. I can lose my cool when dealing with stupid people, but I was very nice. He was very rude, and it was obvious that he could care less.
He said the antenna WAS in stock and it was going to ship out UPS the next day.
The next day I receive a UPS tracking number that states my package is being shipped.
As I tracked the package I see that it's enroute to PA not Indiana where I live.
I waited the 3 days just to watch the package being tracked. After the package status was showing delivered I called them asking for the proper tracking number.
When the $6.00 an hour girl answered the phone she told me that my account had been deleted, and I was no longer allowed to do business with R&L Electronics.

WOW, it's hard to believe that they are still in business.

Any other stories??

This comes as quite a surprise to me to say the least.
I have been doing business with R&L for more than 25 years and have never had a problem.
They always have the lowest price and they always treated me great.

I ordered a high end antenna from them last monday and it arrived in 72 hours. No problems at all.
The R&L guy on the phone was top notch.

I havent bought a whole lot from R&L, but when I bought a 2m mobile to replace one that was destroyed, from them it was a very good experience.

Unit was in great shape as was described, all around good service.

FT-847 from R&L

Last week I bought a FT-847 from the guys up at R&L.
The rig was as described like new in the original box.
After a very thorough check out I found it to be 200% operational The extra 100% was for happiness!
Thanks R&L for a great deal and for quick shipping (2days) via USPS to Mobile Al.
I would do business with them again.
Best Regards R&L !

If R&L doesn't suit you, you could always go with MFJ...
Apples and oranges. R&L is retailer handling multiple lines of amateur radio and hobby electronics equipment. MFJ is a manufacturer of amateur radio and hobby electronics equipment.

I have purchased radios and antennas from them at Hamvention, and phone ordered lots of accessories. All my interactions have been positive.
