R.S. upgrade

I tried doing the upgrade to 1.4 from the R.S. website but cannot get it to take. My scanner still says "app 1.2" when I turn it on. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help. I'm still all thumbs when it comes to computers.

The update is for DSP only. When you turn your scanner on, and you see the Welcome to... screen, quickly press the number 3 key. See what it says.

It says version 1.2. I followed the instructions to the letter. I tried doing the 1.3 version also. It says to turn off your scanner and disconnect the programming cable. Then turn on the scanner and press 0, pgm, enter, which I did. The screen on the scanner then reads IC/IF interface, upgrade, (or something close to that.) When I try the "test" on the version 1.3 upgrade, it says my scanner is not connected or has "incomplete data" transfer between the scanner and computer. I tried all three ports in the back of my computer to no avail. Not sure what to do.

What ports are you trying to use, RS232 serial, or USB? What cable are you using?

I am using the cable that I bought from R.S. (20-047) I am using a usb port in the back of my laptop.

You need to confirm what COM port your computer has assigned to the USB converter. Right click on My Computer, left click on Manage, left click on Device Manager, then left click on the + sign to the left of Ports. You should see the COM port number that has been assigned to the device. Then you need to configure your software to use that port.

Well, I tried all that and it told me that com4 was the port. I tried the 1.3 upgrade and still couldn't get past the "test" part. It says "recieving an error message from the scanner", try again may clear the problem. I try again and it still says "recieving an error message from scanner.

It appears you may be using 0 PGM ENT during turn on for TEST.
