We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

I don't have an R8600 yet, but have read about priority scans on page 9-2 of the manual.

Let's say I've got an FM broadcast station on the VFO and have selected a ham repeater memory channel for priority scanning.

1
I assume that I will hear the broadcast station until there is activity on the repeater, then the audio will switch to the repeater, going back to the broadcast station when the repeater activity is over. Is that right?

2
When there is no activity on the repeater, will I hear the broadcast station without interruption, or will there be a break whenever the 8600 checks the repeater channel?

Please answer only from actual 8600 experience.

Thanks for the youtube link, AOR-262.

Unfortunately, the guy in the video didn't tune a continuous signal (like a broadcast station) with the VFO, so I still don't know if you hear a break when the 8600 checks the priority memory channel.

Is that you in the video?
