Greetings folks, i'm appealing to the radio experts on this site for some help in finding out what this radio model is, and if anyone has one they want to sell? I believe it is a General Electric radio but don't know the model? I'm trying to find one ideally in working order to use in the restoration of my 1988 New York State Police mustang. I have included a pic here to show the radio, its the one on the far right (I'm sure you folks knew that) . the center units is a vascar speed measuring device and i have NO idea what the item on the left is? Thanks in advance for any help. Gary

I would have to agree with fineshot1 he seems to be right on the mark. The actual radio is in a box about 18in X18inX6 to 8in tall. Although rather dated you may still be able to find a control head or perhaps a whole radio for your restoration.

The box on the left is the siren / light controller. I believe Whelen but it may be another brand. I know I have installed the darn things....

The radio item is a control head for a GE mobile. The rest of the radio is in the trunk. I'm not sure what the Troopers were using in 1988 but it should be easy to find out.

The leftmost box is a Unitrol.

Wheelerg - I always loved those fox body cop cars. You don't see too many left that aren't all hacked up. Many wound up being turned into street machines, and race cars as you most likely already know. Good luck on the the project.

I have a NYSP and 2 FHP cars, the NYSP cars are rare as they only bought 40 of them and they were all 88's, they were the sharpest next to the FHP black and tan colours. All three are 5 speeds. Thanks

I have a 1988 NYS SSP mustang as well. The picture above is from one of the 10 NY had for 1991. I think they are equipped differently then the 1988's. I added 2 pics of a 1988 NY car (not mine). The unit on top of the instrument cluster is a radar unit. Kustom KR-10sp. I'd like to find out the models and brands of the other units in the pics. Thanks.

OK - the detail in these new pics is poor, but from what i can tell
it looks like the radio (based on the mic & speaker) is either a GE
Delta or Ranger with possibly a S950 or S990 control head mounted
to the dash.

pics of another 1988

thanks. I found the speaker box,and the unitrol online. i just need to track down the mics, and the exact radios on the top and the right side.
BUT I just found this pic of another 1988 NYSP SSP. It has completely different equipment in it. Im wondering if anyone knows what was in one of these cars originally. I would think they were all equipped the same for NYS.
Any ID's on the equipment in the last pic?

Not sure, motorola something - looks like a motorola micor control head.

Many of the control heads from several different radios from that period
used similar control heads.

Could also be an earlier Mocom 70 control head.

the top one looks like this. now I just need to ID the MICs and the one mounted sideways on the right in my 2nd picture I posted. Thanks. The first 2 pics I posted seem to be accurate compared to this in service photo

That looks like a radio shack speaker on the dash in this one.
