After a 10 month hiatus, I got my radio server back online. The scanner that was feeding it (My BC785D) at the old house in Foley is MIA from the move to the new house so I'm not feeding any trunked systems right now. I am feeding VHF / UHF Baldwin County police, fire, and EMS for now. As soon as my BC785D comes out of hiding, you'll get text tags to show you who you atre listening to with each transmission.

I'm hoping to get my tower up in the next few weeks and this radio on an outside antenna but it's not working too bad for now. You can access it at http://74.182.81.242:8000

If there something else in the Mobile / Baldwin County vicinity you'd like to hear, let me know.

Suggestions or comments are welcome.

Jason - Thanks for making the stream "WINAMP" compatable. Thats the only audio processor I have at the moment. Nice to hear what's going on 'back home' because of our current location and circumstances.

Can y'all add Orange Beach PD and/or FD after the tower is up? Also, do you have 'PRIORITY' selected and if so, what's your priority channel?

Glad you are enjoying it Gary.

Orange Beach comes in fine on the south end of this house but on the north side, not at all. I'll be moving the server up to the 2nd story to the radio room which is under construction this week and I know it will come in great up there! Heck I might just move it tonight. We'll see....

No priority set at all. Priorities seem to creep up on you when another agency is on a good call it seems so I don't even bother with them.

I have several other servers and radios I hope to bring on line here very soon to broaden the experience. I plan on having one dedicated to nothing but aviation and the other to the feds.

I agree with Gary. I can listen to your stream over my PDA because it's not Real Media. Thanks KP.

Jason: If you can, please refresh my memory as to the numerical unit number sequence that OB PD uses. It's been awhile since I've been there to monitor in person and things may have changed. It will be nice to hear old friends again... Carl, Lee and Rusty specifically as well as Batallion Chief Bill A. over at Fire Station # 1, on 161 by the Post Office.

Do you have 155.010 (State Net) in your monitor? It isn't used often in the south end of the County, but when it IS, it's usually an interagency pursuit or major crime issue. Also, 155.370 is still in use as a Point to Point channel in the Florida panhandle. They use that as well as the 800 interagency frequency.

Thanks again!!

OB PD starts out as 100 for chief and it goes up from there to around 140.

State net is in the radio but I rarely hear anything on it except for skip but with it being a simplex channel, milage can vary.

I'll be working upstairs in the radio room tonight so I'll get the server moved up tonight. Orange Beach will definately boom in then.

At the hairdresser's, past the liquor store.
Thanks for the stream, Jason! It's nice to hear how the South half lives! And I can hear my buddies at the DPS Mobile Post! I sent an e-mail to one of them yesterday to tell her that I was listening! I've also posted the link in the DPS PCO yahoo group.

Jason: Just some stream feedback for you...

I have the audio running into a full residential stereo with feeds all over the residence here. There is a significant 60 HZ hum in the streaming feed. It's not being generated at this end. Just an FYI in case you were only using a 3 or 4 inch speaker to monitor the stream output and couldn't hear it on a speaker with no low frequency response.

Almost sounds as if it could be a cable issue or impedence mismatch between the monitor output and the audio input processor in the server. (??)

It was late when I was plugging everything in and I had the radio in the wrong port on the sound card. I corrected it found my mono to stereo adapter so it's all hooked up correct now and the hum is gone. Sounds GREAT on my big speakers.

Thanks for the feedback Gary. Glad you're enjoying the feed.

I added DPS cars to the scan list BTW.

That was awesome. I just heard you talking to us. Good luck with the move...

The sound quality is much better, too.

Argh.........

OK, so the server is back online upstairs and is picking up great. Got ORange Beach comming on for Gary. However, the 60 Hz hum, is back. I fixed it before I moved it all upstairs and it was working fine. I read it could be a number of things. I unplugged EVERYTHING from the computer but the radio, ethernet, and power cord so I've elimiated the speakers, monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc...

The hum only shows up when I connect the scanner to it. I even moved the scanner to a different outlet and ho help there. Haven't tried another scanner yet. Will try that tomorrow.

It's late, and the radio party doesn't stop. It will have to go on without me for the night.

C-ya.

Jason: The cord from the scanner to the server MIGHT be picking up 60HZ induction from an adjacent source or unshielded power transformer. Reconfigure the routing and see what happens.

Server problem since Saturday?

Hi Jason,

I checked out your stream last week when you first put it up and it was very active. When I tried it Saturday to check out the airshow for 30-45 minutes it was silent. This was done about an hour after your airshow post. I realize you're back to streaming local comm now but there might be a problem at your end.

After finishing a 30 minute test it's dead except for some background computer type noise from your end. It's connecting fine using Winamp but there's no audio.

Have you been swapping cables or settings to troubleshoot that 60 hz hum....?

Thanks for making it available.

The audio was switched off in the mixer?!?!?! Hmm, I shouldn't have ghosts already in this house! It's back up and running fine now. THanks for the heads up!

Not till Monday. The server is doing some recording so I can decipher the fire tone outs for the county. The streaming software I use has to have complete control of the sound card and won't allow another program to use it so it's one or the other for right now. I've got other servers and radios. Just haven't had the time to get them setup since the move.
I'll be done Monday night.

Thanks,
