Excuse my ignorance. Son just got me this unit for monitoring/emergency use. Can I use it to monitor KSP? Suggestions? Am in Central KY (Pulaski Co). Thanks.

No go on KSP. You'll need a PRO106.

Everything else for Pulaski County should be able to be received on the PRO164

Your scanner can monitor Pulaski County freq's that are listed here:

Other options instad of the 106, should you choose to upgrade to digital to listen to KSP, are the:
-Pro197 (the 106's base model cousin)
-The Psr500 or 600, which are GRE's equililent to the Pro106/197
-PSR800 Digital PreProgrammed with KSP, so you just open it up and listen to digital
-Uniden HOMEPATROL 1, it's preprogrammed like the 800, but also includes a nice color touchscreen... pretty slick.
-There are also the BEARCAT series

Do some reading on the digital scanner models and see if you want to upgrade to digital.

According to Newport News Trunking System, Newport News, Virginia - Scanner Frequencies, they use a trunk system.

You can program the system by hand using information in the manual or following the easier to read version at marksscanners.com.
OR
Using the Radio Shack 20-546 cable with a program like WIN97, you can program the system from yout r own computer.
OR
find someone with a PRO-163 or PRO-164 and clone their radio.

I would help but am too far away.
