Hello folks! After tons of researching I settled for the pro 197 fro radio shack to listen in on the digital system here in Dauphin Co. PA. I got the scanner set up how I want it and scanning the system in about an hour of playing with the software. My question to you folks is as follows, I'll describe the best I can.

While scanning the screen looks something like this

Scanning
12345678910
* * * * * * * * * *
DauphinPubSaf

When it finds an active channel it appears somewhat like this

Scanning
12345678910
**********
Dauphin Co. Disp

The problem is it only flashes the channel it found extremely fast. I would like it to when it finds an active channel to display the alpha tag as long as it's "locked on that channel" and when that channel goes "dead" it returns to displaying the system it is scanning.

Is it possible to change this setting?? I looked around in the program for hours and can't find anything like that in the global setting.

If it makes a difference I'm using the radio shack free trial, I believe it's called ARC 500 software

On scanlists11-20 press function key + 0 for 10 function + 9 for 19 etc also I suggest PSRedit programming software& get the programming cable makes stuff a lot easier. also have a look at this for easier to read manual Mark's Scanners

The manual has everything you need, I just can't understand what you are trying to ask. If you program a trunk system it will display the frequency and talk group by default and can be changed to show the Voice Channel and the Control Channel easily.

This scanner is far more intuitive than most folks think it is. Everything is done in a logical manner. The manual is real helpful, and what program are you using?

I think traperguy84 is asking about setting the LCD blink on and off time, If that is what he is talking about, I am still a little confused with it myself.

I have type II diabetes and it makes it hard to focus on the screen and try to read the info before it starts scanning again, so when it stops on something I press the pause button so I can read all of it.

That wasn't to bad after I focused and seen that there wasn't 4 LCD blink on's and off's, after looking there is only a LCD blink on and a LCD blink off, the other 2 was LED blink on and LED blink off.
I set the "LCD BLINK" on and off to 100 works great.

Romeron,

That is what I am talking about. By the time I start to read what channel it found the scanner will scan again, didn't know if there is a way to make it stay on that channel for additional time.

Also I'm using the ARC500 software with a radio shack programing cable.

Well, in Win500, I set the LCD Blink On for a value of 20, and the Off value for 250. Allows me to see what the TGID alphatag is.

Did you program it to use the two second delay? That should give you enough time to press the "PAUSE" button. I don't believe it will pause automatically.

Not sure what the delay is programed for, or what the LCD rate is, I'll break the laptop back out tomorrow and give this another shot, thanks for the advice!!!!

Cable to scanner, Start ARC 500 click Scanner tab, Download from Scanner to ARC 500 (so you don't lose what you have in scanner when you upload it back to the scanner) Click on the Global button bottom left, under Colors/Display/Sounds tab you can set your LCD blink rate, I set mine to 100 and 100. Now, Scanner tab, Upload to Scanner and you are done.

This is too slow down the LCD screen info so you can read what all the info on the screen is displaying. I think this is easier then using the software.
This is what you are asking in the original post, is it not?
Try this. press PGM then FUNC then the F3 or GLOB this will put you in the Expert menu press the down arrow key until you get to DG Int Prime: on the menu set this to 20 and save. This helped me, if it give you problems try to step it up by 5 or 10. You can always return it to the default setting later.
