I would like users thoughts on the Yeasu 817 radio. I would like to work some satellites and saw this was a good radio to do this. Your thoughts on the usefulness of this radio for the money and the reliability of the radio. Any problems you have had with the radio any issues? Thanks for the help

The 817 will work on the FM sats but is a bit more expensive than most dual band HT's that will do the job with an elk or arrow(or homemade, Kent Britain, tape measure yagi) handheld antenna. The 817 is limited to 5 watt the same as most HT's I have used.

If you want to work the linear sats, buy two so you can find your own downlink
