I live in New Gloucester and I can hear the train passing thru town. I am not 100% of the operator of that line. Does anyone know I'd like to put a few frequencies in to monitor them.

A lot of new Uniden scanners have a "service" mode for the railroad, if you have one of those just put your scanner in that mode and when they transmit something it should be pretty easy to figure out.

I'm not familiar with that area at all so I can't help you specifically very much.

BUT keep in mind, Maine was allocated some Federal and Railroad channels for use in the Statewide VHF TRS, so when using SERVICE mode, you may find more than Railroads, but a good place to start.

I did an over night discovery search and did get a few hits on MSCOMMNET. The discovery mode displayed it nicely. I did get a hit in Amtrak which does not come thru where I live. I just wanted to monitor the train as it passed thru.

What KB1VLA said (above), plus the yard frequencies of 161.250 and 161.400. The railroad is Pan Am Railways, which is in the process of being acquired by CSX. Pan Am interchanges with St. Lawrence and Atlantic just north of you in Auburn (at Danville) - for them, check out 160.965 for Dispatch, and 160.815 and 160.995 for yard.
