I had 4 P8's returning to Florida this morning on ADS-B Exchange and they were at least 300 miles away but I was receiving what sounded like Satcom transmisions with open carriers in between transmissions. There were several different people just chatting about the scenery. Has anyone ever picked up Satcom transmissions on this Frequency before?

What leads you to believe it’s satellite communications?
Just the open carrier like a Satcom transmission for quite awhile with transmissions between people going on. One pilot also mentioned Talldega Race Track which is the area where the P8's were flying by. But it could have been anyone and the transmissions sounded like Satcom to me. Just asking if anyone had received anything like this on that frequency? I just thought it odd myself.

sounds like someone was just repeating comms from another frequency. The constant carrier would be because they were not using a carrier detect to key the 122.75 transmitter.

Thanks also for the info.

I consider the ISS a manned spacecraft and not necessarily a satellite.

But it is in orbit and by definition a satellite, a manned satellite if you wish. Encyclopedia Britannica specifically address that.

Ok, I'll give you this one but I doubt the signals heard by the OP were from the ISS Manned Spacecraft sat thing.......

What time did you hear this and for how long where they in your range ? Do you mean these 4 P-8s ? They didn’t fly near Talladega though ? When they mentioned the race track was it like they we are looking at it at the time ?

What sort of aircraft avionics would have this type of capability ? Or are you suggesting it was a ground station ?

I was hearing this early yesturday I think before noon and there were at least 3 people talking and one pointed out to the other or others Talladega race and said look over there it's the race track and mentioned the name of it. I have no idea if it was them but just a guess that they were the only multiple militsry a/c I had resonably close to me at the time. They were headed to Florida area on ADS-B Exchange.

I’ve never heard the military chatting on 122.750, they usually use their own discrete frequencies, mostly on UHF. Looking at Saturday morning traffic in that area using the replay function on ADS-B Exchange there was a lot of Florida based civilian private and training aircraft returning southbound after the hurricane. I suspect maybe that is what you were hearing ? An open carrier sound on the frequency might have been a stuck mic (not uncommon) ?
