This seems like a really neat program....downloaded it and everything fine, followed the instructions, but I cant get it to record. I have my scanner hooked up to my "audio in" via a 1/8 mono plug...I now can hear the scanner thru my computer speakers, but it will not record anything....any ideas?

Make sure the microphone input is turned on an up. Double click on the speaker to view the audio controls and check the properties. If you have Scanner Recorder running you should see a change on the graphic audio display.

Make sure that you are using the same input that your scanner is plugged into. If it is plugged into the mike jack, do the following:
- Double click the little speaker in the task tray near the clock.
- Pull down "Options", and select "Properties".
- Click the circle next to "Recording", and select "OK".
- Make sure that the box under "Mic" is checked.

If your scanner is plugged into the "Line In" jack, make sure that the box under "Line" is checked instead of mic. While you will hear all the devices that are not muted under the "Playback" properties, it is the "Recording" properties that will dictate which input the computer will use.

WHat I do is:

Here What I do with my Pro 97:
My Laptop has a Mic built in so i simply place the speker over that mic and use Xcorder to record.....I have an external usb DVD multi (Panasonic),
and when I get the time and/or need the space I burn the recorded media onto Cdr's.
THey are relativley cheap..
At CompUSA they sometimes have sales in which you can like 50 Cdr's for around $10.

Good Luck
Crista

FYI
not all "Recording". software records clear..
Xcorder does and it is free.....

The way johnyvico & cristisphoto do it will work but the problem is your recording dead air when there are no comms. Using scanrec it will only record when the squelch is broken.

Xcorder has the same features as Scanrecord it
stops recording when there is no transmission
aand I find the payback audio a lot clearer
and makes smaller files....
The problem of dead air is NON existant with Xcorder
