Has anyone remote mounted their BC536 and used it exclusively through the Siren app or Proscan? If so how has your experience been? I'm thinking of attic mounting the unit so it is close to the antenna and avoiding a long cable run.

I have my 536HP in a room close to my wifi router & use Proscan exclusively to control it. Works great. Just need to make sure you have good wifi coverage where you situate the 536HP and you should be fine

Attic would be too remote in my opinion, unless it’s an easily accessible space. The Wi-Fi drops on my 536 too often. You avoiding the long cable run because of ease of stringing cable, cost or signal loss?
Thanks for everyone’s very helpful information. Avoiding the long run for signal loss.

Does the siren app work with any other model Uniden scanner like the SDS?

I believe was only developed for the 536 exclusively, It was supposed to be able to be used outside your home without wi-fi, but I don't think that aspect of it was ever developed. Go with Proscan, possible to stream over the internet so you can listen to your scanner anywhere you have internet access, plus many other useful features such as recording, logging, etc., Plus works with many different radios.

Nope, 536HP only. ZERO app updates since its release in 2016 (prior to release of SDS line)

As noted above, 536 only. Unfortunately the Siren App was a splendid idea, but all of the "advertised" features never came to fruition. I suspect they had too much trouble getting the dongle to function, though not well. By the time they did, the app developer vanished with all the source code and it was too costly to get a new app developer on board.

The late Upman and I had a pretty good chat about this disappointment one time he was in Louisville for the truck show. I think he was the most disappointed of all.

When I'm on the road I have a 536 mounted on a shelf in the sleeper and control
it with Siren thru an old 10" tablet attached to the dash. Connection drops out
now and then which requires a reset but is satisfactory otherwise.

As Member ofd8001 stated, damned shame regarding the app build;
ultimate system would be selectable wi-fi or bluetooth, but hey...

All remoted. ProScan works well for it. Each scanner has a separate version of ProScan running it so i can reprogram or log or record ect.IMG_076134.jpg

Are any with the exception of the 536 possible to be hooked up via wi-fi? I'm looking for a wi-fi solution to hook up some of my older (BC785D) to Proscan remotely.
