There have been certain repeaters in my area on the public safety side that, every time they transmit, they start out with one PL tone and then switch to a standard tone.
For example one repeater starts out transmitting 127.3, and then switches to the standard 110.9. For another repeater, it starts out transmitting 156.7, and then switches to 110.9. The "switch" only takes a half- or less than half a second, but its definitely noticeable.
Is there a reason for such a setup?
