Anyone know where to get good state police frequencies i used to hear them loud and clear but about 8 ago weeks they disappeared. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Mantis401

yes, Rhode Island State police is in fact on the trunked p25 system, they completely switched over, some i believe is even encrypted maybe???
So is the site in Burrillville up n running now?

The system is continually evolving as we listen and try to determine the various users etc.
Altho info from Official Sources is hard to find, even Dispatchers have been spoken to about posting information related to the system by Dept Staff who got word from RI-EMA who runs RISCON :evil:
Best think is to keep listening, log, listen , log
also visit ScanNewEngland as they have the most active threads related to RISCON

I live near the Mass Ct border and I don't hear anything from a CC frequency. I have and keep scanner for frequency but nothing has been heard yet. Yeah, I've checked out ScanNewEngland and nothing new there either.

Do you have detailed info on when the Cumberland tower will be online?
I have been hearing this for the last year and am patiently waiting for it.
The signal in northern RI is spotty at best.

I know the equipment has been in storeage for about a year. I personally have seen it.
I think it was they needed a tower to be built.
FYI I don't know anything more than what you know.
New Tower is active!
The new north zone tower is active today on the RISCON system.
I believe it is located in Cumberland. This will help on reception for Northern RI and Southeastern Mass.

I don't hear the control channel here in the southeast of Mass. Do they use the north system frequencies?

I think Burrillville would really be a great place to put a tower considering the high elevation, the best place would be Buck hill or Chompmist Hill in Scituate if they dont already have one there.
There is a site on Chopmist Hill. Under the license WPXB275.
There is also one on Diamond Hill in Cumberland, at the WWKX FM transmitter site, under the same call.

Are the state police talkgroups encrypted? I live in NJ and there is no way I can figure it out on my own by listening.
Only the main operations channels (what used to be on 155.505 and 154.905) are in the clear, and not 100% of the time (maybe like 95%, occasionally you'll hear {or not hear rather} encrypted traffic on there). Some encryption is used. The other SP channels are 100% encrypted.
