I am hearing the dispatches but not getting the fire traffic on Riverside County Fire.

For instants yesterday there was a fire in Moreno Valley, I hear the initial dispatch but did not hear any further traffic. I have all the supports programmed in or thought I did but no traffic from Moreno Valley.

Any Ideas??

There could be a couple of reasons for your situation but I need more information from you. Maybe you already know this information but the support channels are not repeatered so you will not hear unit traffic unless you are close to the unit(within a couple of miles). You will only hear the dispatcher.

Depending on your set-up, you may not even hear the dispatcher. I cannot hear Moreno Valley traffic from my location when they transmit off of support 5 due to the transmitter being near Moreno Valley. I might be able to hear them with a bigger/better antenna but right now, I cannot hear them on support 5.

Was this a vegetation fire? Do you have the command channel programmed into your scanner? Usually the command channel is RRU 2(151.175).

As Kingscup said the support channel are not repeated. You will only hear the dispatcher unless your close to the action, have an outdoor antenna, or high up on a mountain. The RVC tacs are even harder to hear because the units can be on a HT.

Also the RRU-1 and RRU-2 freqs have different transmitter locations and some might be harder to pick up than others depending where you are in the county.
