• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have noticed that recently in RPM when I try to push a personality I get a window shown below.......

I tried to repair and reinstall RPM with no luck. It also tries to say that the COMM Port is in use or invalid, but the port is working perfectly in device manager.

Can someone shed some knowledge on this. I'm stumped......

Never seen anything like that before! Is the com port set to a weird baud rate something?

I don't see anything out of the ordinary. And the weird thing is that the USB-Serial cord works fine in RPM 2 and the same cord works fine on RPM off of my Surface Pro laptop. It just doesn't like RPM on my Toughbook.

Same computer using rpm2 works but not rpm14? Or are these different computers?

I think I might have figured it out. I looked at the comm port settings on the surface pro with the cable plugged in and just mirrored them for the toughbook. It seemed to work. I guess sometimes you just have to talk it out. Thanks for listening.

Has anyone else come across this? I had to format my laptop... Just re-installed RPM R14C and RPM2 and both of them are giving me this same error. I've no idea how to get around this. The port is working fine (it's a USB-Serial). I can plug into a radio using Putty and talk to it no problem, but RPM does not like the USB-Serial for some reason. Aggh! It's always something it seems when you have to reload all your stuff.

I had the same issue. Spent 3 days trying to figure it out. Issue turned out to be the laptop wifi. If your using a serial connection, turn off your laptops wifi.
