Which cable and software works with scanner. I have RS 20-546 and RS 20-047 cables and can't read scanner. Thanks

Which scanner, please? For the PRO-106 and 197 (and I would assume the upcoming PRO-18) you would need a USB cable. Did you install the drivers before connecting the cable? Did you check Device Manager to see if the COM port allocated is actually available? best regards..Mike

The OP provided the catalog number which is for a Pro 163.

Either one of the cables you mention will work. Make sure you are not using the pigtail that came with it. If you aren't using that, then as the other poster said, check to make sure you have downloaded the drivers and are using the correct COM port.

It is the Pro163. Yes I ran the driver disk and when I plug the cable in the scanner it goes into the CLONE MODE and software will not read. Which is the best software? Thanks!

Do not use the pig tail on the end of the cable that plugs into the PC/IF port on the scanner.

Ok were getting closer. I tried the Win97 (I use the Win500 0n the PRO197,Works great.)and I'm not using the pigtail.I still don't understand why it goes in the CLONE Mode when the cable is plugged in.Is that normal?

yes that is perfectly normal i have the 163 and anytime you plug anything into the PC/IF jack it goes into CLONE mode
