Thank you for the pictures and providing another reminder to me of how fortunate I am not to have to live...strike that...survive/exist in NOVA anymore. People who lived there in 1972 will remember the big flood. In May 1972, I believe, on the very day of the worst flooding NOVA had ever experienced and all major roads in the area were flooded and no way out, I had to leave. My job had been transfered to Ft. Hood, TX. I tried to leave early that morning from the Lee Highway area. Amazingly one lane on a west bound bridge on Rt. 7 was barely passible if you drove slowly. The east bound bridge lanes being slightly lower in elevation were totally flooded. The other westbound bridge lane was very close to flooding from the raging water from some creek or small river that overflowed. Although very scary and touchy, my VW Beetle peformed just fine. The old style VW Beetles would float if the water level was high enough. I had an additional concern of floating off and on Rt. 7. Fortunately for me I made it out of the area safely and subsequently returned only for tdy requirements.mike_s104 said:Few pictures on my way home today

Listening to the scanner before I left this morning I decided to take the truck. It's dark and the coldest part of the day when I leave for work. Snow isn't that bad, but ice is taking it to another level. I ended up on my ass real fast while scraping the windows clean before I left this morning.
