Sorry you got "fake" SDRs. As N0ESC said, the RTL-SDR.com SDR, purchased from a reputable dealer (beware of unscrupulous vendors on EBay) is one of the best. You can also check out NooElec's website for other dongle-type SDRs. Nooelec is a reputable firm, I've purchased from them in the past. Good luck.

It means they're not genuine products made by the actual company. Like most anything else, the internet is rife with imitations of brand name products with hugely varying quality levels... I know some people who swear by imitation versions of more expensive SDRs and some people who have gotten terrible results with them. Ultimately though, when they're sold as being genuine even when they aren't, it's a bummer because you have no idea if the quality is there or not. The simple answer here is to always buy your SDRs from the official stores, not off Amazon/Ebay/whatever unless it's the actual official store linked from the website.

Stick with known manufacturers, don't try to save a few bucks, it ain't worth it. I strongly recommend NOOELEC brand.

Three of my six run 24/7 and have been for years, using them to feed Broadcastify Calls Wake Co NC TRS feed and have yet to have issues.
Im gonna look right now, Thank You! I may have more questions lol.

We have about 60 of them throughout MN. We do alot of the feeds for MN. All of them are running on Xubuntu with the Black RTL SDR Dongles with SDRTrunk. If you have any questions id be happy to help!

As far as I know you can’t use it with proscan. The silver ones are hit or miss I ran those for about 4 years up until last year we switched to the Noelec nesdr smart dongles which seem to be way better. Also if you want an amazing antenna the ratlsnake m6 v2 is the best I have used so far. Their about 22$ on Amazon. Sdrtrunk works great it’s came a long way.

I love it, i wish they'd approve my live stream, so what software do you guys recommend to send my stream to broadcastify? will sdrtrunk do it? i know it sends a Node because I've got one uploading
