• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello M/A-Com experts,

I live in a county that utilizes an 800mHz EDACS analog system. Try as I might, I can not get clear reception with my Handheld scanner. It comes in OK, but not great.

If I were to buy this (features 01 04 06 09 10 12 16 22 23 29) , could I safely monitor the system? I also believe that the software to program an EDACS system is crazy expen$ive, is this true? How much? Could I even get it?

Thanks for your help!

ETA: My county does not utilize ESK or ProVoice.

If you dont need ProVoice you could go for a radio without option 29... That would make the price of the radio usually significantly cheaper too.

I'm wondering why the 9 jaguars 700p from "equipement on Ebay"in the RR classified adds are listed under " EDACS equipement" and not under "Provoice radios" since the seller says that the feature 29 (provoice) is installed.
At $399.00,they sould go fast but they are standing still...
am I missing something please?

Id blame the economy, I thought about picking a couple up myself but I already have 2 full-featured radios so I dont need any more toys at the moment. Got other things to pay for like gas and bills!! If you had some extra cash, you could snatch them up and when the market isnt so crappy turn around and sell them for a pretty penny. FMR is still selling the same radios for like $800. Plus, being the RU models, they are P25 conventional capable.

I have a P7100 I bought to monitor my local EDACS and I love it.
Worth the extra $$ for it over a scanner.
Thinking about picking one of these up for the low price.
Almost seems to good to be true.

I see the P7100's on Ebay have the Provoice units (RU101219V2 R1B) for $399 and the ones with Feature 21,22,23 and 33 (RU101219V2 R1B) are $499 . They are model HA8DTE. When I have asked questions they say they have not confirmed the features by using menu and call the feature list unofficial. I asked if there was a guarantee that the previous user didn't delete the feature string and they could not. One of the photos shows a screen with a Conventional 800 mhz group and they say it is for demonstration purposes only. I would prefer at least a CC Scan photo.

They do noy seem to be selling at the above Buy it Now prices.

Those are 700p's, and the price is good for the features. He just has the market flooded with too many at once and noone has the cash to jump on them. Id just get the $399 ones unless you really want to spend 100 more just for P25 conventional.

Does no one also want 21 ESK which is in the more expensive units along with the P25 Coventional? Perhaps LowerMainland B.C. may be the only Public Service system to switch on the ESK.

Without the proper SecureCard, the ESK feature is worthless, so they dont add much value on the public market. If a public service agency that uses ESK buys their radios off eBay, then i guess thats their own risk.

There are several agencies that are using ESK.

And I think New London Tech picked up the 700'p on ebay.
