• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Was at a Sam’s club today and the radios they were using were Motorola and the audio was definitely digital. I always thought they were MURS. Anyone know the modulation type and frequencies?

I think this is what they are using at the Walmart near me. They got rid of the MURS radios last year.

That is interesting. It seems like the radios were larger than that. It doesn't say the modulation type, but does show FHSS, which would make scanning impossible.

That could be what they are using here. They are the same shape as the DLR series. I don't remember what side the antenna was on.

The walmart here are using UV-5R radio I see the workers carry them around the store.......
I remember a lot of people at my store bought their own 5R, probably more than what was in the store's RDM2070d cache. plenty of people from maintenance to front end to cart pushers bought one, the ones that got a radio because their job somewhat required it instead of running around a lot, and others were sick of their busted speakers 2070 hand me down or until a new shipment of 2070d's arrived that quickly disappeared lol

Although the smart people knew not to have a walkie because that meant management knew you were easily accessible
I joke but I do think that because of that situation, we were a very good running store because of good communication

Sam's club and of course WAL-MART! I'm not surprised the Company that I work for, they use Motorola FHSS 900mhz too. Besides, does anyone really need to if they're not in the general vicinity what's happening in aisle 1 or 21? Of course, everyone's curious about Loss Prevention Staff to deter Shop Lifters and listening out for Code ADAM.
Of course, most scanner enthusiasts would ask me, why am I posting this? My answer is, I don't know why, but when one works in retail and listening to retail industries on your own time be as if you always at work.

Come on man, the managers yelling at the front end when lines are backing up, the endless groans from department managers being scolded for a less than stellar walkthru. Front end managers trying to figure out who is left to cover lunches, The endless calls for maintenance guarding a spill or cart pushers in grueling 100 degree heat be told they need to hurry up and get more carts ....and some people like listening to 911 calls, pursuits, structure fires and that crap pfffft :poop:

One day I was walking into the store, with my vest on, and approaching a car parked and I noticed a guy intensely staring down at a handheld scanner, as I came closer he noticed me walking by, looked up panicked and hid it below view. I laugh every time I recall that event
