i dug up an interesting video about the sirens in the city, The Tuesday Noon Siren, San Francisco’s Outdoor Warning System i thought it was pretty interesting even though it was only about 3 minutes long. thought i would share.

Yes and they are really loud. They also have voice after saying something I never can understand-AND they just added Chinese

what do you mean "added?" they put another language on the PA system? my city does not have sirens so i am not familiar sorry if i sound stupid

Not sounding "stupid" at all- yeah I live in the Sunset District in western San Francisco, which has a huge chinese population-most of them do not speak English.
So what happens is a siren first, a message in English next, then a message in chinese last. The thing is-that PA system is not powerful enough to really get out a clear voice message to everyone. I listen now and then to the ham net that checks in at noon to report on what they heard-and most of them report hearing voice, but not understanding the actual message.
