I've heard a few people tell me that saugeen shores is going digital and that "nobody will be able to hear the police anymore".
Seeing as how they are surrounded by OPP on all sides, I'm guessing it will be P25 digital with possible encryption but doubtful.

Guess I'm holding off to buy a digital scanner as an upgrade :(

It's possible...other smaller municipalities have taken/are taking that route. One of the ways you can keep an eye on things is to flip through the municipal paperwork around budget time.

If Saugeen Shores works like other municipalities, the chief will likely request additional budget money from the police services board and/or the council. It's customary for the chief to explain what the expenditure is for in a letter or in person so sometimes there's a brief outline as to what will end up in the RFP or the proposal.

Yes, it's somewhat boring detective work but it's also one of the few ways that the average Joe Ratepayer can get a sense of these sorts of things. It's also an antidote to the constant "OMG! Town XYZ is going encriptd and i cant listen to the cops no more!" that crops up here and on scanont.

That isn't meant to be a criticism of your post, by the way...
