I've noticed that my old Uniden SC150B picks up better than my new Uniden BC246t.
I sat them fairly close together but far enough apart where they wouldn't interfere
with each other and I saw a noticeable difference.

I have them Scanning conventional Cab and Ham freqs.
which are in the 144 - 152 band.

Would a better antenna help my new Uniden BC246T ?

Are old scanners more sensitive or tuned differently.
From what I see they have the same antenna.

I switched them out and got the same result.......
I'm thinking they use the same antenna.

Okay, then the problem isn't the antenna. But, a better antenna may help anyway. If your main interest is the VHF hi band, try the Diamond RH77CA antenna. It should improve reception over the stock antenna. It's about 15 inches long and thin, but very flexable. You can find them at most amateur radio dealers like HRO, AES, Universal Radio, etc.

Or, you could install an outside base antenna like a discone, or the Scantenna; these would improve reception. But an outside antenna would eliminate the portability of the scanner.
