Scan Control vs. ARC898?

Hello All:

Looking for feedback and thoughts from the group regarding the pros & cons between Scan Control and ARC898 for programming/control of the BC898T.

Other than the difference in price, what do folks feel about these two offerings? Thanks very much!

Pro: Not only does it support the 898 but lots of other scanners as well. If you happen to have or get another Uniden, you don't need to buy another software package to support it.

Con: Horrible editor - very clumsy and non intuitive to use. Still doesn't support RR import, and for many who are new to this, a serious problem. What is essentially a screen scraper for RR is under development, but has evidently been a lot harder to get to work right than anticipated.

Only if you only had the 898 and didn't plan on getting more radios. 73s Mike

Bump. Anyone else out there with some feedback on using ARC898 or Scan Control for programming/control of the BC898T? Would really appreciate some input before I pull the buy trigger on one or the other.
