I’m in the process of looking to buy a desktop scanner for mostly Amateur Radio repeater monitoring (especially the 6m repeater at The Big Apple in Colbourne,Ontario, just south of me) ,but I might want to listen to the various services as well, so just in case ,I don’t want to limit myself to just analog.

That said, for Northumberland County,Ontario,I see there is some NXDNE and DMR.

Northumberland County,Ontario

Does that mean my only options are the SDS200 or the TRX-2?

Which DMR level is used by Campbellford Hospital and the public works, though?

DMR levels.

Could I buy a cheap Baofeng DMR/analog ham radio handheld?

What about a used Uniden BC355(350),etc on eBay?

How about the Whistler 1065(Pro-197),etc?
( I know. Analog, FMN and P25 P1)

NXDNE means it's an encrypted NXDN frequency so no scanner will be able to decode it.

Go for the TRX-2. I have 3 of them and love them. Also you get DMR and NXDN where as the SDS200 those two options are ‘extras”

Public Works in Trent Hills is still analog for now. Hospital reception is fairly local to a few blocks surrounding the hospital.

I am a big supporter of the 536. Get the DMR and NXDN and its great for any ham stuff you may encounter.
