I looked at websites for both your city and county and found nothing there. In my county the sheriff's department posts the codes on their website. Here are common codes and you may have to listen and see if the context makes sense. A lot of times they will intermingle the codes with plain talk. For example the dispatcher might send the officers to a 10-50. When he/she gets there they may say the car is wrecked pretty bad but the occupants are out walking around. This would give you clues to indicate its an auto accident.

And also welcome to Radio Reference.

Keep in mind signal and 10 codes will be different between agencies. Even agencies bordering each other may vary in codes.

For example, 10-50 for the Hillsborough Co. SO is a traffic stop. Tampa PD doesn't use 10-50, and a traffic stop is referred to as a Signal 50. I'd say only 10% of the codes mean the same thing for both departments.

If you cant find anything on the RR Wiki or Google you might try making a public records request for it.

One way to do it is to listen and as they use a code or signal write it down. The context of what is being said will sometimes help you know what the code is. You can listen and compare the common codes I posted with what is said and see if it makes sense. If you listen long enough you will pick up a lot of the common codes and signals.

Another way is to give the city or county a call and ask if they have the codes and signals available. Sometimes they will provide this to you without the need to make a formal FOIA request.

Yet another way is to talk to some of the officers on the street. Sometimes they can be helpful if you approach them and let them know you just listen at home and you are not someone who is going to show up at accident or crime scenes.

If you follow this link there is a section listed as 10 codes and dispatch signals. In the drop down box there are various counties. You can look at what other counties use and it may be possible that your city/county is using one of these.

Most Florida agencies are State and/or Nationally accredited. As such they must have written policies covering every aspect and function within the agency. These SOP's are public information. I would ask the agency for a copy of their telecommunications policy. The 10-codes and signals are usually an attachment at the end of the policy.
