Hi.
I am new to this.
As I understand it, the FMN mode is an analogue FM, but the DPL tone is a private digital signal?
Will an analogue scanner work for this tone/mode combination?

For example:
453.3875WPWL336RM065 DPLMdlsx D14 NoD14 North Operations / Local Eventl Green (Simplex)FMNFire Dispatch
453.700WNVN480RM065 DPLMaynard PDPolice Operations PrimaryFMNLaw Dispatc

Any (of Recent Years, not decades ago) Analog Scanner that can handle PL (CTCSS) and DPL will work for those two frequencies. (At this time)
DPL is a different format, but very similar to PL/CTCSS

(At this time) with many PD's moving to P25 you may want to invest in something for the future

What are you currently using ?

PL is short for "Private Line", which is the trademark name for Motorola's version of CTCSS. DPL is short for Digital Private Line.
A PL tone is nothing more than a octave transmitting at a single frequency. i.e. 131.8 Hz. You can usually "hear" the PL tone because it is within the audible range. DPL is a digitally coded version of that. Nothing more than that. It's still within the analog audio range and part of analog transmissions.

I don't own a scanner yet, but I am considering the B125 to get started.
