Newbee here....I have had a scanner for quite a while now, but never used for anything other than going to the nascar race. Been playing around with it the past few days and love listening. I feel i need to upgrade however. I am looking for a radio that can pick up regular radio stations as well as scanning. I was looking at the uniden sc230 but doesn't seem to do what i want it to do. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks
Frank

If you can find one, get yourself a BR330T -- they might still have some over at Amazon.com. It's an awesome scanner, has coverage from .1MHz-1.3GHz (sans SSB, cellular). It's touted as a NASCAR racing scanner, but is much more than that.

Does anyone know of any other radios that allow for the reception of am/fm broadcast? I like the uniden SC-230 but can't get an answer if allows for am/fm broadcast or not.

I have never seen a scannner that could get AM or FM broadcast radio.

Some of the wideband recievers do, but they are horrible as scanners even though they have a "scan" feature. (too slow)
