Hello to all,
I am trying to power my scanner (Pro99) through the battery of the car which is 12volt or 13.8 im not sure, the external jack on the scanner is 6volt input

Is its ok to still use the car battery or do i have to get a converter from 12volt to 6volt or something close to that

I dont have the standard cigarett lighter plug in my car so anything that requires that wont work
Thank you

Your scanner requires 6VDC at 300MA. If you connect it directly to 12VDC in your car you will most likely burn it out.

Right on the burn up. Don't even think about it. That universal voltage thing works great, I've had one for close to 20 years.

What kind of car does not have a 12 volt accessory jack these days? I know many do not have lighters anymore but no jack? That's just weird.

You can always buy one from RS and wire it in, that would be the way to go.
