I live in Warren County and i just recently got a scanner. I know A while back I had a hand help scanner and I could pick up the volunteer fire dept and the sheriffs department. I currently have a 800mhz uniden scanner and i cannot pick up anything. I have heard that the sheriffs dept switched to a new system similar to the Vicksburg PD and you could not listen to them on the scanner. Does anyone know if this is true? IF not any idea what i might be doing wrong? I have searched for the correct freq. and programmed them in and also manually went through all bands and have not been able to find but one channel with someone talking about coordinates and the Weather channel. Any tips?

First off csttech, welcome to radioreference.com! :)

According to the information posted in the database for Warren County, it would seem that information is correct.
rr.com database said:
This system is an 3 site Motorola ASTRO Smartzone using VSELP digital exclusively. This system will be possibly converted to an IMBE CAI version of ASTRO in the near future. Users of this system include Warren County Sheriff's Office, Emergency Management, ALL VFD's, and County Public Works.
VSELP is a digital voice mode and no scanner today can monitor that mode.

Depending on the type of radio you have, check and see if you can program it with a computer. It will save a you a ton-O-work if you can.

But wait .. there's more!

If you become are a radioreference.com subscriber (no obligation to be one) all you will need to do is download the system your scanner's programming software and then upload to your radio.

Ding! All done.

ouch. Looks like you might be out of luck with that radio. It does not do trunking .. AFAIK.

@UPMan: the wiki does not have a bc700a, but it does have a bc350c. What is the difference between the two?

Offhand, no idea. BC700A predates me by a substantial time period (the DMA scanners are my first Uniden designs, prior to that I was with RS, so I have general but limited knowledge of prior Uniden models...I can't even find the 700 in the files I inherited, so I'm guessing it was a 90's era design).

I have programmed in my scanner 155.790. It's the old frequency but picks up PD/SO/EMS. They will switch to "private" at times. The volunteer FD is 154.175. I don't have digital but this works ok. As far as Hinds County, I have the page out frequncy for the volunteer FD's, I do have the fireground channels but they are analog and not digital.

Be safe

The BC700A is similar to the BCT7 without the BearTracker Features.
