The question I have is that I'm having a problem with a scanner I have(or atleast I think it can be fixed). My gf's father gave me two scanners; an old Uniden BCT7, and a better Uniden BCT8 Trunk Tracker(this one I mainly use).
I'm pretty sure I've set my local frequencies and talk group ID's correctly. My area uses Motorola Type II, analog trunking. I pick up a lot of transmissions back and forth between dispatch and mobiles, but the rest of the time, I'm picking up what sounds like snow from a disconnected TV. I have the squelch set correctly. The interference I hear sounds like it's a transmission, because it has the transmit click that you hear after someone talks. Now, I think it's just a cop that is just out of my range, because I'm pretty sure it's someone talking. I just get a static instead of a voice. Is this the case? It's kind of hard to explain but I did my best so far.
