Don't know why I felt like sharing this, but oh well!

About 3:30 AM this morning...bunch of drunks in Georgina tried to start a street fight. They were gone when the cops arrived. 3:45 AM call for a serious accident in Georgina. Cops arrive to find their suspect vehicles both involved in an accident; no one was wearing seatbelts. Two were ejected; one went into the water and another into the bush. One guy was taken to Holland Landing and then airlifted to Sunnybrook...very critical condition.

As I was enroute, I opened up the Fleetnet system to get updates on patient condition. Heard the Southlake patch. Listened to the York system for traffic info. Once the air ambulance was dispatched, I opened up my conventional channels and heard all the chatter there.

On the way back south from this mayhem, another rollover on the 404 at Green Lane.

Couldn't have done it without the scanner and all the help from everyone here over the last few months.

Yea, c'mon...who wants to shoot that stuff when there's features to be done!

You're right on the money though in regards to the ease of use of Fleetnet, however. Once you get used to its wrinkles (especially as they relate to scanners) Fleetnet is a reliable radio system and remarkably easy to monitor. Compare and contrast to the old conventional VHF EMS frequencies...the difference is night and day.

I like the Fleetnet system... where I live it sounds really clear at all times. On the contrast, the York system is crackly and often unpredictable.

Yup, I remember back in the day when Fleetnet was first being build out in Zone 1 there were a number of verbal opponents on Scanont (myself included). However, now that Zone 1 and 2 are very well established, it's a very reliable system - I can't think of a single instance where the system has failed. Considering the sheer size of the system, user base and geographical area, that's pretty impressive.

i mirror said thoughts. my coverage area is right between zone 1 and 2, (fenelon tower, pontypool tower...bowmanville units run a lot of calls in manvers) so i monitor both zones and Fleetnet is practically seamless. if you know what you need to monitor (patches etc, get an idea of patient condition) you don't have to miss a single beat.

You shouldn't be chasing calls. Even the Haruteq scanner book says not to!

is this a joke? lol.

yes, armchair scanners shouldn't be chasing calls. (why would they anyway, when they can sit at home and listen?) as for us media folk, on the other hand...

Everybody makes fun of me and calls me an ambulance chaser. How often do we really chase ambulances? :)

Heck, I usually lock out the EMS talkgroups until I need details on an incident. From a news perspective, I could really care less about Joe Blow's sore ankle.

I never did like the the county or region PD or EMS and I like the city PD or EMS .If I had my way have Brampton PD and Mississauga PD .

After a city gests more than 150,000 people have there own city PD all cities under 150,000 have the RCMP or OPP and they should do the same in the US.

A state police and city police and no county or region .If I pay taxes why should the money go to the EMS or PD that does not patrol my area.

The EMS should do like the states and winnipeg and go under the fire and get off fleetnet .It be better if call was dispatch only the one time like P201,S201 and EMS 201 from station 201 a MVC 410 and 407 .

is this a joke? lol.

I can just see armchair man on seen of a house fire and the fire trucks bumping is car to get in front of the house and armchair running over the fire line and the FF guys putting water on is car with pressure to brake the window for driving over the fire line.

And armchair going to a robery call and the 7 cops that go 10-7 take armchair and put him in the cop car and take him to a road and put him there.

Or armchair going to a B&E and 2 thugs go up and say armchair get out I need your car has a get way .

Just reasons not to go to 911 calls just watch cops on fox and serve and protect and enjoy the scanner it is the closes you will get.

as for us media folk

But who pays you media folk when you get in MVC on the way to 911 call or tow truck on the way to MVC? Well the job pays ?

Who pays the cops X money a hour to go patrolling the streets that may get in a MVC going to call or not.Do you think the cops or media folks do it for free that may get in MVC?

No I hear enough MVC calls on the big streets on the scanner .I stay of the big streets if don't have reason to go:roll: too many bad drivers ,too many MVC calls and too much traffic.

Not 100% sure what you are asking, but if you're asking who pays if we get into an accident, that's sort of a ridiculous question. It's like me asking you who pays if you get into an accident. Most news folks including myself don't drive dangerously when on the way to news events. Any photog who drives like a nut is an idiot.

You may want to rephrase your question, because it's kind of hard to understand.

AM call for a serious accident in Georgina. Cops arrive to find their suspect vehicles both involved in an accident

Well 90% of the MVC calls would not happen if people are not speeding and the driving schools did a better job.

If the airline pilots had the standard like the driving school you have plane crashes every day in Toronto..

Not 100% sure what you are asking,

No you have job so if you get in a MVC it is part of job.Pay me 100 a day I will drive up and down the street or pay me to be your texie or pizza driver and I will do it.

No I will not do it for free and if get in MVC who pays money to fix the car?

nec208, this is a scanning forum. Please keep your posts related to scanning.

None of your posts seem to have anything to do with scanning.

Let's keep this thread on topic before it gets locked.

Honestly, dude, you're making no sense. Do a grammar check or something because you're missing a bunch of words. Hard to read.

Mike, it might have something to do with scanning, I just can't read it. ;)

Ouch. Reading that was painful.

Dude, nobody can take you seriously.
