I live in St. Charles Parish what would be the best scanner to buy for my surrounding area. THank in advance

The above link should help. I saw some trunking in the area like state police and a few others but I did not see anything digital. You are close to N.O. and I did not check there so cant be sure but I feel most trunking scanner will do the job. If you want Milair then the choices are a little smaller. You will have to decide what you want to listen to. I use a bearcat bc396t as it will go to the frequencies I want to hear. If you know what you want to listen too get the scanner that will listen on the frequencies. Hope that helps. GOD Bless.

Umm you WILL need to get not only a DIGITAL but a 700 MHz capable one, so iether the Uniden 396, or 996 since the LATIE is rapidly replacing the older State 800 MHz system in that area.

And St John Parish has moved to a digital system, but has encrypted all the LE action.
