That happens when there is a character in the database that is not "legal" under xml. The utility relies on vbasic parsing of XML, so exceptions cause the program to kick out an error. Looks like there is an "em" dash in the description of TG 58576...but it could be something else. No workaround in the utility...the data hast to be fixed.

Data point is fixed.

Paul, any idea when you might have the 396 version of the software out?

Due to the changes made for the firmware update, UASD had to have a few tweaks. I expect both the firmware update and UASD to be released next week sometime (but the approval process almost always takes longer than I expect, so no promises, yet).

1. Go to the Yahoo group for the 246T - files area (you'll need to join) and download the RRDB reader.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BC246T/files/

2. Install it, run it and download your frequencies and talk groups.

Should work.
Should ... but it just times out when I try it. Pointing my browser to the xml page, using the same login and password, works.

Since there are no docs and no source code, it's difficult to figure out what's going wrong.

But it would be nice - IF it works.

(Since I've never done web accessing programatically, and I'm in the middle of preparing for a trip, I'm taking the lazy way out and asking for help here, instead of just writing a program myself.)

Since they fixed the data point, it is working. For me anyway, I have been able to download several systems.

Make sure you don't have a firewall issue, like zonelabs etc.
Does it give any errors?

Not as of 7/1 6:30 AM EDT for me.

I'm running a router, but no firewall.

Just the "Operation has timed out" error. It gets past connecting to the site - I ran it first thing on booting up and it timed out. When I connected to the site I was already logged in, so RRDB had logged me in. I was thinking it might be a .Net version problem (I'm running beta 2), but that says it isn't.

I guess I'll move the laptop to the modem and connect it directly. If that doesn't work I'll just have to write my own program. Too bad - I was going to spend the time writing an equivalent for conventional systems. No one should have to enter NYC by hand. Just between FD, PD and DOITT, it could take hours.

And I still have to try to get my 396 before the 11th or 12th without paying for overnight. And set everything up for my trip. Anyone have about 50 hours they could lend me for the day?
