To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a TK 863G and it's been in the closet for awhile, I finally got it out tonight and programmed multiple Talkgroups in a trunking system along with multiple trunk systems and some conventional channels. Is there a way to scan all of these at once? Or at least scan one of the Trunk Systems? When I hit scan it stays stationary on the TG i am on and shows SCN in the top corner but it never stops on anything else on the same system that I know is talking.. Also, I put in some conventional channels to use for the county that I need. They are conventional 453.900 frequency with 196.6 and 199.9 something for the PLs. I have put in the PL's and still hear a static burst every few seconds. My scanner will get these if I don't have the PL in. It's like it's bypassing the receive PL. Is there a setting for this and also, Maybe the freq's are something besides PL's. But my scanner Id's them as FM 453.900 CTCSS of 196.6 and 199. something.. So I assume they're analog conventional channels but with the static burst i'm not sure. Could it be a data thing or something to see who's monitoring? I don't get it.. Any help will be appreciated.

Lets start with the basics. In the x63g series, and anything else that is set up as LTR either radio wide or in an LTR group, everything is treated the same. Adding a conventional channel will give you some headache when you have an expectation of "normal" operation.

The scan list is setup in the programming software. When signal is received, the radio compares the id being received with IDs in your scan list that are NOT locked out. Check your programming and what is and is not locked out. I found nothing but headaches when using my 863g as a conventional radio.

I found it easier to keep each system separate.

Both of those are odd PL tones. What is the static from? Transit Trunking?

Ok after reading the last line there, they are likely transmitting telemetry data to ping the subscriber units and compare the radios on the system with the approved list. I would swap to a scanner.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A400 Safari/6531.22.7)

It's mainly going to be for trunking, I only have the conventionals for the next county over when I'm there, my main concern is being able to scan the trunking systems, I have a black arrow beside the names on that system but it still won't scan them, do I need to mark in the program system lockout no or something like that? Thanks for all the help so far.
