Scantenna Specs

Hi all,
I have a scantenna that works rather well. The only problem is that it got messed up a while back in a storm we had and i have sort of patched the antenna back together best I could. The antenna picks up vhf very good but uhf and 800mhz stinks at the moment. I have found the plans with all the dimensions on the antenna. I am going to try building a new one from a couple of old antennas that i have laying around. The only measurement that I need is the wings on the antenna. Would anyone happen to know what they are? What exactly are the wings for? The one I have up now doesn't have the wings on it and it works ok.

Have you talked to the folks at antennawarehouse?

They might be willing to help you repair your antenna.

I hope you didn't suffer too much damage during the storms this week. A friend of mine near Wilmington lost his deck!

I have not contacted Antenna warehouse about possibly fixing the antenna. The antenna is in such bad shape that I put up a piece of wood and nailed the verticle elements to it. Like I say I have about 3 old tv antennas laying around that I am going to try to make another out of the plans. If that does not go to plan I will just buy one. As far as the storms go, this has been about a year or so ago since the antenna got broke. The wind here in the last few days has been rather gusty but no damage yet. The only thing about the antenna that I was worried about was the wings on it. I don't have my old ones, would it be ok to construct a new and not put the wings up. That is the way I have it now?
